1. Our film is about a mad murderer who’s home is in the art studio and the darkroom. He waits in there and day after day, gets another victim who carelessly walks into the darkroom and is then left dead. What no one seems to know is that all these victims have something in common. After one boy walk into the darkroom and finds a dead body on the floor as it was being carried away. He quickly scurries to the door and struggles to open the door. Although when he does get out, he saw a glimpse of the killer’s face and begins doing his research. He discovers the killers identity, but there are still people walking in there and being killed. He soon finds out that the killer was a high school student who was constantly bullied and abused. He finds out more later on that he is now seeking revenge on those who brought him his misfortune through his passion of art. As the boy finds more, he makes a plan and stops the killer. Although the following day, there is a news report of a boy who died in a darkroom.
2. The trailer includes scenes people walking into the darkroom and never coming out. There are scenes of dead bodies on the floor of the darkroom and people who walk in and suddenly fall down upon entrance of the art studio. These scenes are included to strike horror into the viewer and put forward the idea that it is a horror movie and in some way entertain the audience with some suspense. In addition there are scenes of the main boy at the start and there is more camera time on him to first, create a build up to the climatic action. Second to emphasize this character especially as he gets to the door and struggles to get out but there is no scream heard like the other ones. This way although the audience thinks he is dead, he in fact, is still alive in the actual film. Finally there are some titles that mention the killer’s story but don’t say what it is. This way the audience can start asking questions about what the story is and again get them interested and wanting to know more.
3. Our trailer makes the audience want to view our film because it is intriguing, full of suspense and provides a good idea of the plot and story that will come during the future. First the trailer begins with a mysterious build up which already gets the audience asking questions about what is to come. It also introduces some terror and horrific elements with the blood in the sync and many people enjoy these kinds of movies so this will start to hook those people. Second as the trailer progresses more and more suspense is added and there are more mysteries being added to the story. For example it first begins with that mysterious body on the ground. The audience is surprised by this and then begins to see that it is getting interesting with more surprises. Then they also see him having those pills that have some significance to him. And so they audience wants to watch to find out what happened to all those people and what do those meds mean? Finally the trailer provides some information about the plot and story without giving away too much of the movie and spoiling it. For instance the audience knows the movie is about a mass killer who is out and is killing a lot of people. Thereafter the audience can make there own assumptions and can infer that someone will try to stop it and find out what is going on. So because of the suspense and not over exposing the story of the film, the audience will be intrigued and will want to watch the film.
4. The trailer includes one set background music, which starts off soft and then leads up and stays at that epic tone and adds to the mood of suspense. We chose this music because of course it sets the mood of the trailer and gets the audience in the mindset of what kinds of movie it is. Second, it adds to the suspense and already gets the audience on the edge of there seat waiting for the tension to be relieved. In addition there were other scream sound effects added to simulate someone being killed and it allows us to do so without actually showing the action happening. For example it can cut to black and have the scream play so the audience gets a jolt and knows something happened without all the graphic and gory things.
5. What I really like about the trailer is the build up at the start. It goes from the boy at the locker, alternating to the hooded figure and provides lots of mystery. For example wondering what the blood in the sink is from and it also is a really good rising action. In addition the climatic effect in the darkroom come smoothly with the transition from that build up. I feel that this part of the trailer really gets the audience into the movie and doesn’t start off too slow or fast. I believe this is essential to really get the audience attracted to the trailer and by doing so they want to see more. So I think that the start of this movie does that, a smooth start that really gets into the trailer as it moves on.
6. Some difficulties we faced were problems with the storyboard. For example some shots that not everyone likes so we had to change those as we were filming so that took some time to come up with new ideas. Other challenges were staying focused while filming, as some wouldn’t stay very focused. So that also took some efficiency off. In addition During editing, since we couldn’t be together, we would have to bring it each class and show the group and then take it back and make changes again and would have to repeat this a couple times. Finally we faced some challenges with the tripod. It was unable to extend one of the legs all the way so we had to shorten the other ones and then had to hold it by hand if it was too short. This then caused for some shaky shots as well.
7. Next time, the first thing that I would change is to have a fixed storyboard before we start filming. This way everything will be set and we can zoom by the filming by just checking off the shots we’ve taken. In addition everyone will have made sure that we all agree with the idea and hence everyone will be happy with the final product. Second something else that we would change is to have everyone focused and working. To do so, we would make sure everyone has a job to do so no one is really just standing around doing nothing. Finally another thing to change would be to try and get a silent set and ask everyone to be quiet and out of the shot. To do so we would run through the shot once and tell where the areas are that no one can be in. This way in the end we won’t have unwanted background music and people randomly in the background that have no relevance.
1. Why you chose the subject/logo/company?
I chose the apple logo because, first I have many apple products, such as iPhone and Macbook at home. But also because I am idolize Steve Jobs and his accomplishments. And those of Apple up until he passed away.
2. How did you animate your gif?
I created the background of the tree and orange, then duplicated that layer several times. Then I selected the apple shape on a different layer and filled it with white on the first layer so it hung from the tree. Then moved it down the next layer and filled it again and repeated the steps and moved it each layer to make it seem like it was falling and then bouncing. Then when I needed to move the tree, I would move it over slightly in the layer and then filled the shape of the apple after the tree was moved then continued this until the tree was gone and by then the apple was in the center of the frame. After that I filled in the shape of the apple in the layers and in each made it slightly bigger until it got to the desired size. Then I had the image of the apple with the bite and from that frame on, I filled in the shape of the bitten apple moving up the screen. Then I added the text once the Apple reached near the top of the frame. From then I moved it over and down and rotated the text to make it seem like it was crawling out of the Apple and rotating it slightly each frame so it got into position beneath the apple and then made it bigger and duplicated the last layer a couple times to remain on the end for a bit.
3. What were you trying to convey/ what was the message behind the animation?
One of the main messages I was trying to convey is that great ideas and companies can be brought up from the simplest things. In this case the idea of an apple morphing into that of a major tech company it shows Steve Jobs’ single idea to make a computer completely changed modern computing and later morphed to a major tech company creating much more than just computers. At the same time I was trying to convey that this symbol for the company and its success has completely changed the way we perceive the idea of an apple. For example when mentioning the word apple, we often think of the company now because of how much it surrounds us. Moreover it shows how the company advertises themselves by using the symbol of the common apple to represent their company.
4. Do you think it was successful?
I do believe I was successful at conveying the message because I showed how a single apple can be thought of in two different ways and adding a single bite will point the viewer in the direction to see the company instead of an apple. Also, I represented the simple idea of the apple now being thought of as a complex tech giant. Moreover I showed how the company changed the way we think of the word and symbol of an apple so that it advertises itself and makes us think of them whenever referring to an apple.
What is World Press Photo?
The World Press Photo is an annual photo competition where photo journalists from around the world enter their photographs. These photos contain different situations from around the world and contain hundreds of different messages and emotions. Each photo is different from the one before and after and each have a unique meaning, whether about the photographer or about the photograph itself. In addition the photos cannot be altered or improved so what you see is what you get.
What stood out to you? (It can be anything from location, subject matter, to stories that were told)
What stood out to me the most were the different and very hard conditions people have to live in around the world. They really made me feel pathos for the victims of different crimes and events. The photographs from the third world countries, the ones struggling, really urges me to do something to help those people.
Which was your favorite series/ photo and why?
My favorite series were those of the 2012 Olympic games in London. These photos really showed times of happiness even though countries were battling it out for the gold medals. This was a time where all the countries in the world came together to participate in the olympic games as they all had something in common, an urge to win. But put that aside we were all together in one place and I believe all war even came to stop for that period of time.
Would you recommend others to attend World Press Photo?
I would definitely recommend the World Press Photo to others because it is a great place to learn about different parts of the world through individual photos rather than words. It really conveyed lots of emotions and can push people to great acts of kindness for those places in need and appreciate the great things illustrate there.

The theme of my spot coloring is action shots of great sport moments. I chose this theme because first, I really like sports and its a big part of who I am. Also these are all pictures before a really big moment for example a goal or an amazing bicycle kick. In fact that bicycle kick was one of the best goals. The reason I chose to color in those certain subjects of the picture is because they are the main athlete of the picture. They are either making a great goal/catch or letting one in.
